Enhance Private Insurance Capacity

Increase Access to Affordable Health Care for all Vermonters

Current health insurance options that uninsured Vermonters can purchase are expensive and/or do not offer broad coverage.

Act 191 created Catamount Health, a lower cost comprehensive health insurance product for uninsured Vermonters that will be available on October 1, 2007.

Act 191 also proposes changes in the non-group insurance market to improve the affordability of the other health insurance products that individuals can purchase.

Communities also play a key role to address the efficiency of the healthcare delivery system. Act 191 provides funds to support a local health care coverage initiative to a community, region or geographic area of the state.
